    • Ive never had a bad uber experience. They are clean, prompt as well as cost effective and polite and best of all, no fuckin small talk. Their cars are always spotless and smelling good.

Ive been in at least 6 cabs that have come dangerously close to getting into an accident, taking the longest way possible to get more money out of me as well as their cabs being messy and not maintained.

Though i will give it to yellow cab with their new app that took some points from uber to improve their service. Took it on monday and was very impressed as they introduced the fare cap that uber has.

I agree Susan. People love Uber until surge pricing kicks in and charges double or triple what a taxi charges. The average an Uber driver works is 92 days because they get paid less than minimum wage is all said and done. City council is what needs to change transportation but are so consumed with bicycle lanes it’s hilarious.

Sharie Amanda it’s no secret the amount of time and money that lobbyists spent on behalf of Uber to operate and by no means would anyone think politicians personally pocketed money. However, lobbyists on behalf of the taxi company’s to petition fair pricing turned around and started their own company and politicians allowed that and is a direct conflict of interest.

  8. Did you know cab drivers are trying make a living to support their families like every other person in this world. Did you know cab drivers are assaulted more then a person walking down the street. Did you know cab drivers call their family members as often as they can so their wives and children know they are okay and safe. Shut the fuck up

  14. I have encountered all sorts over the years. I had one rob me while I had a concussion many years ago. I had another insist I put my money in his reach halfway through a cab ride…..when I refused he threatened to haul me to the cop shop despite the fact that it would have been less than 20 bucks fare and I showed him the money. Not good enough. I got out and took my money with me. Ya’ll know what my thoughts were when I walked away.
I lived next door to one that went out of his way to be kind, thoughtful and in an emergency quite decent. I have encountered very impolite ones, I have encountered very courteous ones. They are a mixed bag at best.
The one that robbed me while I had a concussion I was lucky enough to have the police called. They had to figure out who I was because I couldn’t even tell them that. They drove me home.
Don’t judge all cabbies according to the actions of one. Don’t get into a cab with preconceived notions about how they should be, and roll with the differences.
Yes, we appreciate personable cab drivers, but they don’t have to be our friends and we can tip the good ones and not the ones that are rude, impatient, or otherwise not meeting ones standards for good service.

    [0]
  15. Funny. I enter a cab with the attitude that i treat others the way I wanr to be treated and funily enough, I have not had any issue with cab drivers.

Same goes being behind the wheel. Stop acting like others drivers supposed to drive AROUND you

The moral of the story being….
Maybe be a little less of a pompous asshole and you’ll be treated better.

    [0]
  16. Oh good…..another racist

  17. As a professional driver an tow company owner…..I’ve seen these idiot cabbies that couldn’t drive to save their lives…..they will lie to you …take the long way to your destination…try to exchange sex for the fares …sexually harass their female Passengers….this may not be ALL cabbies…but would you send your wife or daughter in one late at night….me either

    [0]
  18. I am agreeing with “why judge a group by the actions of a few” & think that it applies universally from what I have witnessed. I do not care who you judge etc, you have a right to do whatever you please.

    [0]
  19. I no longer take taxis but I can’t imagine generalizing like this. How big was your sample size? Have you met every single cab driver in Edmonton? Grow up.

  20. Jeremy Dines Jeremy Dines says:

This person is definitely a jackass, but safely passing in front of someone while merging is not wrong. This particular cabbie was being an ass by speeding up.

You know what ADMIN. Stay out of peoples right to Shoutout! Nobody asks for your F$%^ckn reminder. You Nazi control freaks. Go ahead and block me Jody. This page has turned into nothing but a liberal, socialist propaganda machine. You should just call it “love in Edmonton”or “Don’t ever have an opposing view to ours, Edmonton”. Disgraceful Jody Mitoma. You should know better, but then again you’re only serving one side of society. Do you even know the definition of an opinion and that EVERYONE has a right to voice it. I don’t think you do. Your blatant attempt at brainwashing the masses won’t work. Stick to taking pictures of sunsets, goof.

    [0]
    • You don’t have a right to voice it here though. If Jody wants to ban you I would be thrilled

    • Marc Cornies Marc Cornies says:

Um, that’s what this page is meathead. It’s called a Shoutout Rant. Just as Shoutout Edmonton advertises. Free speech, heard of it? You love to freely infect us with YOUR 5 cents of vomit on every topic..Considering some of your comments Sharie I would probably just STFU. You come across as an idiot, Feminist Nazi who doesn’t like dissenting views from anyone, especially men. But at the end of the day, your just an insecure little girl. Pitiful you are. Keep practicing that adulting thing. Unlike most women I know, your opinion is not valid. Never will be.

      [0]
    • It’s a private page and you have no right to be here. Nobody does. You know nothing about me but seem to be thinking about me quite a bit. How adorable.

I’m glad you find me adorable. I’m flattered. I knew we could get along….

  22. Could very well be indeed and we dont know the entire story as to why he might of sped up. If he did it out of spite, he’s no better for sure.

  23. Marc Cornies Marc Cornies says:

If 150 out of 200 cab drivers act this way, then I can reach a consensus. I concur with the poster. Cab drivers in this city are notorious. Sorry but most are imports (or the forbidden religion we can’t post negative things about without the high moral police coming after you). I still remember these assholes at city hall last year during the Uber fights. Made me sick to my stomach allowing that shit in my country. You want to pull that crap, take the next flight/boat back to whatever shit stained, third world you came from. It’s assimilate to our way, not yours.

    [0]
  24. It drives me bonkers when people speed up to get in front of me… which is almost always followed by a slam on the brakes. This is especially irritating when there is a ton of room behind me to merge and/or the lane ending was visible from far away.

  25. Jason Ellard Jason Ellard says:

I only ever comment in the poster

  27. Liz Dubray Liz Dubray says:

Would it have been so bad if you went behind him? Obviously if you have to speed up to pass someone, then aren’t you attempting to cut them off? Some drivers are so self absorbed and entitled. I just want to throw my coffee at them. Lol
Not all cab drivers are bad! I’ve seen some pretty bad uber drivers too. Doesn’t mean they are all classified as scum of the earth!

Man I have the best cab driver. I always get the same guy when I’m late for school. He’s the best!

    [0]
  29. Agree. Anytime I have taken a cab they have been very helpful. Admittedly it is annoying when someone plays with you like this when you are driving. I have had the same experience and it wasn’t a cab driver. Someone probably bored!

    [0]
  30. Xavier Paddy Xavier Paddy says:

I haven’t had much of a problem with Cabs. Have you ever thought that maybe you both just tried to speed up because of the same upcoming lane sequence?

    [0]
  31. Lol. The number of times I get into a cab or an über and the driver (regardless of race or language) asks *ME* “what’s the best way to get there?”…. isn’t that part of your job?.. lol

    [0]
  32. I drive a body job in this city and this is exactly why every chance I get I f*** with cab drivers just because all of them do not know how to drive at all with respect or decency.

    [0]
  33. Uber is the way to go. I too remember seeing the cab drivers on the news last year when the behaved so badly at city hall that it was the first time the mayor n staff left chambers and more security was called! I tuned in half way thru and thought I was watching a third world country. So saddened and shocked to find out this was Edmonton cabbies in city hall. And yes I too have experienced having a cabbie drive a few blocks than demand more money or kick us out in a darker deserted area. Uber all the way much safer

    [0]
  34. Tyler Seguin Tyler Seguin says:

You should take drivers ed. You shouldn’t be speeding up to get passed someone in the first place unless they’re going under the limit and your in a passing lane. Especially if your lane ends, dumbass. Maybe learn how to be a conscientious driver and you wouldn’t have had this issue.

  35. Jean Freeman Jean Freeman says:

Have been riding in taxis for the last 15 years and can count the number of “bad” ones on one hand. Other than a few who were surly, I’ve found them helpful, carrying all my groceries to my front door without being asked, kind and courteous. Maybe the fact that I’m polite to them has something to do with it?

  37. Barry Martin Barry Martin says:

I had acab driver pick my room mate and I up from grocery shopping. It was winter and the roads were bad. As he drove us down 156 st, he was attempting to do 50km, each time he reached 50km the car would fish tail and spin out into on coming traffic. He would gingerly straighten the car out and proceed to do it again. After the second time, I told him to pull over and I will drive because obviously you cannot!!! That was CO-OP, not a fan of that company.

  38. Jocelyn Bear Jocelyn Bear says:

We all drive a bit stupid sometimes. Slowing down DEFINITELY wasn’t an option. When I was new to Edmonton, I got separated from my friends at the bar and had no idea where I was. I was downtown. The cabby was a foreigner, dark complexion, spoke a different language, and he told me I shouldn’t be walking downtown by myself as there are bad people out there. He was a true gentleman. Please don’t throw them all under the same label.

  39. I was in a yellow cab a couple weeks ago and the driver chomped on the gas causing the drink I was holding to spill mostly all over me and some in the seat and he immediately stopped in the middle of the busy street and then after I told him to go he turned down a residential street and stopped and started screaming and swearing at me and acting like he was going to hit me I got out after i paid him and u want even home and he started following me so I had to call the company to make him stop ..scariest driver I’ve ever had EVER

  40. Joey Rae Joey Rae says:

Almost everyone in Red Deer does that (speeds up so you can’t get in).
So I typically slow down and go behind people instead of trying to get ahead of them.
    Problem solved. ☺
Unless of course, there’s someone behind that person….then it gets a bit more complicated. Lol 😛

  41. From the above post it would seem the OP needs to work on their driving skills as well

  42. My only complaint about some cab drivers is the amount of cologne someone of them wear, it’s such a small space and can be very over powering.

    [0]
  43. Lemme get this straight, you’re mad because a cab pushed the gas instead of letting you go in front?

    Hello entitlement

  44. Rick O Rick O'Shay says:

So you tried to cut someone off, unsuccessfully, and you’re mad about it.

Sounds like you’re the shit driver, next time take that Uber

  46. Someone is a road raging hard.

  47. Cab rates are set by the city. Drive defensively, get in behind. You are not entitled to be first because you thought the end lanes sign was for everyone else. Some cab drivers are terrible drivers but the proportion of terrible cab drivers is way lower than the proportion of terrible drivers in the general public. You know, like the drivers that see the laned is ending and instead of getting in line like everyone else and waiting their turn, they speed up and cut off other drivers because they seem to believe they’re too good to wait? You know the kind of driver I’m talking about?
