Car Corner is a scam business!

I recently just purchased a 2014 SUV through Car Corner, the original asking price of the vehicle was $22,988 which I agreed to with $1000 down which I payed no problem. I then signed the Bill Of Sale, as well as all the finance documents and assumed the deal was done and I could pick up the vehicle the following day.

I was then given the run around and told I needed to have a GPS device installed into the vehicle which I agreed to as my credit isn’t the best. This was on a Friday and I was told the GPS system would not be in until Monday to install. So I waited till Monday and called Nathan the salesman I had been dealing with to find out when my vehicle would be ready to pick up.

I was then told the GPS would not be in until Tuesday, so I waited till Tuesday and contacted him and he said it would be in by noon and that the guy who installs them wouldn’t be back until 2pm to install as he was out buying vehicles from auctions and that my vehicle would be ready for pick up at 3pm. I called at 2:30 to see if the guy that installs them was in and working on my vehicle. I was then given the run around once again. So I asked to speak with a manager.

Fred the manager at Car Corner got on the phone and informed me that they under priced the vehicle and that they had a 2012 Dodge Journey for me instead that was a FWD instead of an AWD which is what I wanted. I informed him that I would not be taking the 2012 FWD and that I already had insurance and registration on the 2014 Journey RT that we had already finalized all the paperwork on. He told me that if I wanted the 2014 RT that I needed to put another $1500 down. I told him I had no problem with that as long as it came off the principal price of the vehicle. He agreed that yes it would.

I then went in the following day to pick my vehicle up and give a $1500 check for the remaining down payment. He then informed me that the $1500 would not be coming off the price off the vehicle and that they were going to sell me a power train warranty instead. I told him that I did not want or need a power train warranty.

ANOTHER GREAT POST:  YELP is the biggest extortion scam yet

He informed me that unless I purchased this warranty that I would not be driving the vehicle off the lot. At that point I was done fighting and needed a vehicle so I agreed and planned to fight after. He then informed me that if the check I gave them did not clear that they would disable my vehicle and arrange for pick up. I informed them that I would be contacting AMVIC and the better business bureau as what they are doing isn’t right.

I took the vehicle home and then noticed that the navigation in my vehicle was not working. I then phoned a dodge dealership and found out that I most likely need a new radio for my vehicle and that I would have to have a $150 diagnostics test done. I also found out that the vehicle I purchased already had power train manufacture warranty still on the vehicle for another year or up to 100k km which ever came first.

I then contacted Nathan informing him of my navigation issues as well as wanting my check returned and the warranty cancelled as I already had warranty to begin with. His response was I had to subscribe to navigation (which dodge confirmed I didn’t) and that they weren’t putting anymore money out for this vehicle and that I only have to 60k for manufacture warranty (which dodge confirmed was untrue again). Also the warranty that I forced to purchase before being allowed to take the vehicle was priced at $1000, so where did the other $500 go? In their pocket possibly?

I’m writing this as a warning to other potential customers to avoid this car lot like the plague so that you don’t get scammed like I did desperate for a vehicle! After all was said and done I will have paid $26k for a vehicle with 90k that’s a 2014 and isn’t worth even close to that. Save your money and save yourself the headache! AMVIC & BBB will be in contact with them very soon!

  1. if anyone on here wants the full true story please feel free to pm me as well. I have all of the conversations saved on my phone. as I knew this lady was complete trouble before the deal was even signed and I had advised my bosses that this was not a good idea to proceed with. we sold her a dodge journey with 94000 km. and the manufacturer warranty was over in 6000 km. we insure this loan with the lender in the case that she defaults we then would have to buy it back from the lender paying out the loan. so if you were giving a person who is clearly bad credit and admits it openly. would you not require that your asset is protected I’m case they destroy it. we were more then ready to cancel the deal for her before she took possession of it. and as for the starter interior device this is required from most sub prime lenders when you have a client who has clearly had issues paying bills through out their lives. I could out.line exactly how bad this is. but I’m not willing to openly discuss her credit on on open forum. I look forward to hearing from you very shortly ashley. wish you the best of luck in the future. as I did everything I possibly could to get you driving the exact vehicle that you had asked me for. not sure how much more I could have helped you.

    • I’m confused so your daughter can give out personal information but when the guy sticks up for himself. U lady are an idiot

      [1]
    • U better handle this and stop giving out her personal information cause that is against foip and I will have no problem contacting my contacts at Amvic and government and have you guys shut down.

      [0]
    • And if you didn’t know I am Ashley’s mother and will have no qualms about taking this further so I strongly suggest you make this right and if I do hear her personal info has been given out you will deal with the aftermath!

      [0]
    • im.not here to.share her personal information im.merely here to tell.the other side of the story. I gave her numerous opportunity to cancel.the deal. I personally didn’t even feel comfortable selling her the vehocle. and now my personal and professional reputation as well as my ethics are called into question for a client I wish I had never met

      [0]
    • How is she giving out personal information? Especially about her credit that is against foip so get ur facts straight before flapping your gums eh!

Wow I have never seen a salesman so stupid! You can’t go write on the internet about a customer.. you are making yourself and your dealership look bad. Let your bosses and her lawyers handle it. So unproffesional

  4. re: “He informed me that unless I purchased this warranty that I would not be driving the vehicle off the lot” Tied selling is illegal. You cannot be forced to buy an unwanted product to purchase the item you do want. From your story it would seem you have a few reasons to go after these guys.

  6. This seems like a pretty standard run around that a “used vehicle dealership” or “dirt lot” dealer would give someone, especially someone who didn’t really know any better or was in a tight spot and desperate for a vehicle.

Looks like you may need some legal advice. I have a friend who works at a very reputable dealership. PM me if you have any questions.

Some dealerships are scammers in one way or another but the problem is…you agreed to the terms, you agreed to the warranty and you provided more money knowing you were probably being scammed . You can’t do that then turn around and blame the dealership for it. As for the navigation, knowing the experience you were going through…why didn’t you check everything before you took the vehicle off the lot?

I was also scammed by this dealership. I purchased a truck through them and was sold the warranty. I needed to use the warranty to fix something in the Powertrain and they refused. I didn’t meet the requirements. This dealership is the worst and I tell anybody and everybody not to go there. The truck is a lemon and their mechanic they use is a dipshit.

I can tell you one thing, if they see a woman and one that agrees to all they are asking, another 1500….insurnace, …navigation, they will run you around and talk you into anything they possibly can. You were an easy target for them. I WOULD not have paid them the extra 1500 regardless if they told me the vehicle was more money and they undersold…What they sold to you for and you signed and got all the paper work..its so sad for them. I would have come in there with the police and let the police deal with thier highway robbery and scam and asked for all my money back since you have not taken the car of the lot. Tell them they could keep it. I am sure if you could afford that used vehicle you could have went to Ford, Dodge, Honda whomever and they could have put you into a good vehilce and more trustworthy. You should be able to report them to more than the Better Business Beaurea and run them out of town. As well, any woman should if you are buying a vehicle bring a guy friend if you are not married just to let them be aware. They are not to inclined to give you a run around if there is a man with you.

  13. The biggest mistake was buying a Dodge journey , that’s one of the poorest rated vehicles on the road. You think you have trouble now , you just wait.

  14. Thank you for the notice and buyers be advised , never let a dealer tell you what buy , if you don’t want it move on to a place that is looking out for your needs not the banks or lenders needs

AMVIC and BBB will do nothing. It’s buyer beware. You have 3 days to return your vehicle I believe. You need to stay away from corner lots.

  22. This doesn’t surprise me! I too was taken by them. Purchased a truck, when I had issues and went to take it to a dodge dealership for warranty work I was informed the truck had been written off! And when I first got it, It took almost two days to even be able to register it because they didn’t fill out the inspection reports properly.

  25. This is why companies should never even think of scamming, or assume people to stay quiet about getting screwed over because trust me, mess with one wrong person and it will get out thre to the public, and try finding your way out of that mess! We are not living in old times anymore. You’ve just destroyed your reputation at that point. What they did is very wrong and I would be livid too. They don’t deserve to be running a business. I hope you find justice. And, I hope they lose business.
