  36. Ichiban for sushi, and Kazoku for ramen. Both places are in odd locations on the West End and very hole-in-the-wall in appearance, but damnit, they are quality. Especially Kazoku for their tonkotsu ramen.

    • Ichiban is so gross. I went twice. The first time two of us found hairs in our food and they second time they got 3/5 dishes wrong, one of which included a serious allergy.
      Yokozuna or GTFO.
      Kazoku is really tasty though.

  63. Pagolac in chinatown. Their satay soup is so good, I’m almost tempted to tell you not to eat it. I live in the GTA and have been trying to find it’s equal for the last five years only to be disappointed every time.

      Hmmm. 5 meat surprise. They recycle food right off the table. Saw the old gal take a thermos of rice everyone was dipping in at a table and dump it in another one in the kitchen. Kept doing that with other leftover rice until the thermos she was filling was full. Watched her serve it to an unsuspecting customer. Never been back.

  74. Hot Philly, it’s pretty out of the way on the north side but it’s the only one in the city and they have the BEST philly cheese steak you can get here. I highly recommend it

    Sloppy Hogs – 118 Ave all the meat is great!
    Sugar bowl – 109th southside just over the bridge limited food options but everything they have is tasty.
    And next door to them is the High Level Diner – all fresh foods – delish!

    Uncle Ed’s on 118th… hands down, the best Ukrainian food you’ll ever have. And totally reasonable price. $15 for a full plate of perogies, meatballs, cabbage rolls, cheese buns, and all the sour cream and melted butter you can handle.

  161. Steel wheels is good for late night eats around Whyte Ave. $4 for two big slices of Korean style pizza. They have some other choices too for Korean food like bulgoki (?) little place so not the biggest selection. But you’re most likely to see the owner who’s super great and makes sure everyone’s happy with what they have. Super affordable. You can go in with $5-$15 and leave totally satisfied.
    Three amigos is also really good. They’re small. But have a pretty big menu. I had empanadas for the first time and they blew my mind.

    Dadeos on Whyte is good. It’s not a bar but no minors. They’re like a Cajun inspired restaurant with Poe boys, burgers. Can be spicy if you’re looking for a but of a kick.
