Meadowlark Walmart Sercurity guard

The security guard at Walmart in Meadowlark likes to stereotype indigenous peoples. Today she was witness kicking out indigenous man that just spent money at Walmart and after she kicked him out she gave me the finger.

Two weeks ago I had an issue with the same security guard. While I shop for mouthwash she circled me four times. And after I confronted her she went and told other customers about the issue.

When I confronted her about being unprofessional talking to other customers about what was going on, she turned around and threw a fit acting like I did something wrong. She started crying out loud.

ANOTHER GREAT POST:  Garth Tickets; Scared I won't get in

After today’s incident of her fingering that man I am coming for your job. She is a black woman with dreadlocks and glasses ar Meadowlark Walmart. I remember when you used to work at Westmount Walmart as a cashier.

Sorry lady but you are very unprofessional in your job. I’m coming to get you fired.

  1. You could go back in to the Customer Service desk, ask to speak with the Store Manager. Sometimes they won’t let you and have a SWAS (department) manager speak with you instead. If I were you I would insist that you speak with a manager. If you inform whoever you’re speaking with that you feel you’ve been discriminated against by one of their employees they should let you speak with someone.

Alternatively, you could go back into the store and look at the crests that security wears (the patches on the shoukders), you should be able to make a company name out (Garda, Paladin, G4s, etc). I think most Walmart’s do contract Garda to do security, but best to double check. Google the local security office for that company and give them a phone call, let them know what happened.

  17. Too bad you didn’t get video. Video goes a long way. I had to stop at Walmart on my way back from Remembrance Day ceremony. When I walked in I saw a young Native Soldier talking to I assume his mom. I walked by then stopped as everyone else walked past them. I turned around and went up to them and said ‘Sorry I don’t mean to interrupt’ and I extended my hand to the young man and said ‘Thank you’ as we both shook. Well the smile on both of their faces was priceless and they thanked me. Made me feel so good also.

  21. Under the Indian Act there used to be a law that allowed stores and business to refuse service to natives buying of products that contain alcohol.(that law was also problematic for veterans because natives could not go to places where alcohol could be on premise and legion halls had liquor license. It also the only place where contact person for veterans benefits could be located. So veterans had no way to get information on benefits they were allowed.) Now I remember a case in Saskatchewan about an elderly indigenous man named Elwood Friday. Shortly after his case same store had a issue with an university law student who was native. She was running errands before class and ran to superstore to buy hairspray. Both cases had personnel profiling the customers based on ancestry. They tried to use the archaic policy of refusing business on the bases of suspected alcohol abuse. It was argued how much education and authority do store security and cashiers have that allow them to have complete final judgement on determining who will abuse product and substance abuse etc.Outcome was that store was found to violated Mr.Friday’s rights and had to pay him I think it was 5 grand. AS for the law student other than the media attention I could not find the outcome. I do know on the human rights page there are many cases of profiling and stores sometimes do get found guilty of violations however its all down to documentation.

    • As a former security guard, I would never have “profiled” someone based on what they were purchasing and what ethnicity/ race/ culture/ religion they were. Now, if I saw someone trying to drink mouthwash or inhale hairspray (or anything else) I would have contacted my superiors and asked what they want me to do. What the individuals race/ enthinicty/ religious/ cultural background is, I wouldn’t care.

I’ve personally seen “white kids” drinking mouthwash on the street because they heard it would get them drunk *eye roll*

I’m not here to judge someone based solely on their background. If someone wants to do something ridiculous, I’m going to judge them based off their behaviour, not their background.

      [0]
    • I’ve never seen white kids drinking it…except in remand, but they were Metis.

      [0]
    • Rosie Paquette There is a reason why they make PSAs about teenagers using over the counter medications to get high and even mixing alcohol based products to alcohol to get that next level of intoxication or high. You just displayed the bias that many seem to believe that it is not a “white” thing but rather a “indian” or “metis” thing.Abuse of these products affects all races and all social economical backgrounds.

  28. Remember there are two sides to every story. I have never had any problem at any Walmart with security. Had a few just randomly starting a conversation but never any being rude or unprofessional. This is a new perspective for me.

    • Don’t mean to be a bearer of bad news but you are also of the “privileged colour” so you wouldn’t experience any of this

      [0]
    • So how would you know the color of my skin? Today everything is about color of skin? I have more different ethnic roots than a zebra has stripes so what exactly are you saying privileged color?

      [0]
    • I guess my roots of slavery on my mothers side have been tainted with too much white blood that it is no longer recognizable.lol

      [0]
    • Unfortunately i can never claim metis status because my Grandmother on my fathers side refused to admit she was part native and we could never find the records to prove it.

      [0]
    • Debbie Ryder Debbie Ryder says:

Tamara Plante what exactly is the privileged colour. Now who’s profiling. I would say YOU are privledged – we don’t get free education, free medical or a band allowance . Cry me a river

      [0]
    • I am glad that now people are judged on the color of their skin. What do i get for my white privilege? Oh gee whiz…i get to pay TAXES!!!!!

      [0]
    • Debbie Ryder your comments are what I mean by racists! I still pay taxes like everyone else, I have never and I do mean never been given anything for free, I’m not even from a reservation so I get no band allowance thanks I don’t even know anyone who gets anything close to what you think is privileged, I work hard for my money just like everyone else, and for your information I paid for my schooling like everyone else and am still trying to pay my loans off, you sound like you need a better education!

      [0]
    • Tamara Plante I forgot a couple of things i get for being so called White privileged, i get to go through the same struggles that everybody else does and i get to be called “Racist” because my skin turned out this color. And i get to be called “sexist” because i was born of the male gender. That is my privilege. However this is only from people that know nothing about me. My family and friends know who i really am and for me that is all that really matters.

Get her!! Too many security guards think that they are police. Their mandate is to observe and then call the real police if situation escalates. A friend of mine was physically removed from an emergency room because he put up a fuss regarding his treatment for pain. 2 security guards physically pushed him out the door and then pushed him to a spot where there wasn’t any CCTV and punched him out. They should never be allowed to touch you at all…

The last time I went there she came up to me as I had to wait for my prescription, she was actually nice but now that I think of it, she followed me but when she saw my hands getting full she brought me a cart for my things, and when i went to pay for my things she was right there telling me “this cashier is open” lol and I thought she was just trying to get me line first lol didn’t think she was being unfair to me and I have to go there for my daughters prescription every month and only meadpwlark wal mart is where I have to go so I know who you talking about and I can’t hide my native complexion lol

Everyone take a step back for a moment. What is one of the most stolen items in stores? Mouthwash – the alcoholic kind. Fact. You find empty bottles everywhere. So now unfort ppl get stereotyped because of this. You were after mouthwash and she was vigilant. Doing her job.

Fucking niggers, jigabos, jungle apes, boons, whatever you want to call these NON-CANADIANS swinging off trees and squatting on my land.

Do niggers even understand they are monkeys, even though monkeys display more intelligence and tool making skills? They don’t actually think they are even human, do they? Why are afro-africans’ genome specific to Africa and no other race of man possesses this primate specific genome? Why are slant eye chinks and pasty, pale, red headed, inbred brits more similar to each other genetically than they are to monkeys and negroes?
You all know the answer and PETA will ask you to employ them and even treat them like your equal.
