Rude Driver

I left Kaye Edmonton Center today & while still in the PARKING lot texted my friend to see if she was home & put the phone down on my seat left open on messages.

While driving I picked it up to see if she had replied. Had NO intention of texting.

ANOTHER GREAT POST:  Im confused

All of a sudden this guy in a car was YELLING, “BITCH DROP YOUR PHONE.” This is his car, the grey car in front of the truck.

Unless the guy was a mind reader how would he know you had “no intentiom of texting back”. Too many accidents happen because of cell phone use behind the wheel.

    Put down your damn phone

    [0]
    • Right? Gawd. Can’t leave the phone alone, then just don’t drive. One job when driving: pay attention 100% of the time.

And then he takes a frigging picture! There is just no helping idiots

      [0]
    • I was stopped at a light when I took the picture. I tilted the
Phone to see the reply. He didn’t have to be so eude. I never use my cell when driving. I am NOT an idiot, I know what can happen you judgemental freaks.

      [0]
    • Clearly you don’t or your wouldn’t be making excuses for your illegal behaviour

It doesn’t matter if you are stopped at a light or not!!! You were using your phone while operating a motor vehicle! It’s dummies like yourself that steal the lives of children and mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers, etc all because you are not paying attention to the road! Seriously! If you think your situation should be an exception to the rules Lynne Snyder Smith, get in line behind all the other fucking retards that think their cell phone use behind the wheel should be justified!!!!! You sit there and say you know what can happen yet you still pull out your phone and take photos and check on your message status and shit. You also say you “NEVER” use your cell while driving. Well guess what! Taking a picture is using your phone! Checking to see if a message came in is using your phone! So Yeah! You actually ARE a special kind of stupid !

    • I like how you have openly admitted to 2 cases of distracted driving. Screen shot!

      [0]
    • Lynne Snyder Smith You clearly said while driving you picked it up to see if she replied so in the law you were distracted end of story. And now you have the balls to reply to people are you kidding. In this day and age your lucky he was just rude. Sorry you are an IDIOT….

  3. You took a pic of his car while driving? Nice

    [0]
  4. Yup. Good on him. Checking your phone is still distracted driving. If the reply was that important you should have waiting in the parking lot or called. I’m sick of people thinking it’s okay.

  5. Erin Feeney Erin Feeney says:

Picking up your phone instead of paying attention to the road still qualifies for distracted driving no? His reaction is a bit rude but the main message seems important. Phones, regardless of whether or not you were going to respond, are still a distraction. What if she did respond? Would you have taken those extra seconds to read it, seconds which could result in your eyes away from the road and a potential accident.

    [0]
  6. He’s right…you’re wrong….not dead wrong….but it could happen to you or someone else. Could you live with the guilt of killing or maiming someone over ‘glancing at your phone???’ Be safe and keep others safe.

    [0]
    • Do you not glance out your rear view mirror while driving. It took no more time than that

      [0]
    • @lynne Glancing out your rear view mirror is remaining aware of your surroundings. Texting and driving is negligent and dangerous.

I’m hoping the response you have received here has led you to perhaps change your behaviour in the future. Texting and driving, taking pics and driving (sorry, you were stopped, but still responsible for the safe operation of a motor vehicle) is irresponsible.

      [0]
    • Glad your text message is more important than the safety of everyone on the
      road – yourself included. @lynne ^^

    [0]
  55. What part of NO PHONE while driving do you not get? If you want to check msgs, pull over to a safe place, put your car in park, and check your msgs.

Its obvious as hell when some jackass speeds up, slows down, wanders over the lines, slams on brakes quickly, hard cauked off to the right, what they’re doing…. they’re checking their msgs too.

Why didn’t you sit parked in Kaye parking lot – parked- waiting for a response?
Your msgs are not worth smashing into or hurting someone else.

And you have the nerve to post the pic of a driver who called you out on being a dink.
Taking that picture means your phone was in your grub hooks IN traffic!

    [0]
    • It was NOT. I was STOPPED.

      [0]

    [0]
  57. Courtesy is so important and many people including some posters here, seem to forget that.

So you’re mad because you got called out for picking your phone up twice? Get over yourself. You know you were in the wrong. Doesn’t matter if you picked up your phone to check the damn time, you’re still distracted by it. I see nothing wrong with what the guy did. He saw you looking at your phone, he reacted like any normal person would and you’re bitter because he caught you. Bitch please.

    [0]
    • Bitch. Do you look out your rear view mirror. That’s all the time it took. How many people do I see reaching for their cigarette while on the road. Takes longer.

      [0]
    • Sounds like you do a lot of focusing on other vehicles and not enough on your own, or the road. You’re not coming out a winner in this no matter how many times you try to justify it. Now call my friend a bitch again lady.

      [0]
    • Lynne smoking is not illegal in your car but cell phone usage is. So your point is mute.

      [0]
    • You don’t have to read your cigarette but you need to focus on the phone to read it. By the way, most cars have a clock on the dashboard so you don’t need to look at your phone for the time.

      [0]
    • Lighting a smoke, taking a drink and looking in the mirror are all mindless things that we do regularly. Looking at something for a response is being distracted.

And trust me, every single driver who smokes, was terrified of doing it at first. It takes a long time before you feel comfortable at it. And we are also a lot more aware of our surroundings when we do light it.
When was the last time you heard “I was lighting a smoke” as a reason for an accident?

      [0]

  71. I guess he thought that reading a text was not a good idea. His language leaves a lot to be desired.

    [0]
  72. Even sitting there you can be ticketed plus if someone where to honk at you you would instinctively put your foot on the gas you would cause the accident with your carelessness. I agree with the guy in the car. Not only did you text once but the picked it up again the again to take your pic and I can bet you didn’t only take 1 pic cause it was blurry or you couldn’t get the right angle so you took a few went through picked the best one and wrote this note…good for you silver car guy wish there was more people that did this and less people out there driving and talking

    [0]
  73. Lady is retarded .the dudes right.if it was me I might have pit manuevered her and made a citizens arrest.lol

    [0]
  74. Personally I don’t look at what’s going on in people’s cars unless the car is moving erratically or moving far too slow. Then I gotta see what’s happening. If I glance over and see you with your phone in your hand and I don’t care at what stage or moment of use you are at, you are going to get a similar response. So perhaps your driving was not on point at that moment causing someone to react in such a way?

    [0]
  75. Well, “bitch, drop your phone”

    [0]
  76. People in Edmonton can’t drive anyway they’re too slow or they drive in the wrong lane and they definitely don’t use their signal light and when they do use it they use it at the wrong time when they’re already over too late. They really need to go back to driving school here. Plus a lot of people who live in Edmonton are rude as well.

    [0]
  77. I see drivers texting all the time, I’m so tired of it! Usually at lights but sometimes as they’re actually driving. It’s frustrating. I don’t agree with calling anyone a bitch but I don’t see anything wrong with telling her to put her phone down. I wish more people were willing to do that!

    [0]
  78. I was STOPPED when I took the picture! Can’t you people read?

    [0]
  79. Lisa Boyd Lisa Boyd says:

Lynne Snyder Smith what part of having a phone in your hand while behind the wheel, stopped or otherwise, is against the law are you not understanding?!! Just because the flow of traffic stopped doesn’t mean it’s time to pick up your phone. You’re shocking!

    [0]
  80. You picked up the phone and would have read your friends message if it was 1 word or a full paragraph. Your vehicle is literally a weapon. Remember that. Ki Sa this is why I don’t drive.

    [0]
  81. He was 100% right. Leave your phone in the back seat or the trunk. Looking at it while you are driving is still distracted driving. Quit it.

    [0]
  82. Now that you are coming back commenting on peoples responses I don’t know what I find more disgusting, the original post you made or the fact that even people on here are telling you of the loss of their loved ones due to people being behind the wheel on their phones and you STILL are making excuses for your actions and why you feel you are in the right. Even though you are so clearly in the wrong. The worst part too is in the beginning I thought this post was from some 17 year old newbie driver but seeing as you are clearly a seasoned driving it makes it even more appauling.

    [0]
  83. Hope a lesson’s been learned here tonight, folks! The comments are amazing.

    Get off your f_$&kin’ phone!!

    [0]
    • Again, posting license plates yet you remove them when a person writes it into their post. Not to mention you remove it from a post of a person looking for the girl who committed a hit and run, which landed a baby in the hospital (who was drunk – she got out of her vehicle before getting back in and driving away ). This is just a bit of road rage against someone who was also doing something wrong and it gets posted. Not to mention no one running this page considered responding to the message I sent privately about this.

      [0]
    • Tyler Seguin Tyler Seguin says:

Nothing wrong with posting license plates. Quit being so upset over something so stupid , Ashley

      [0]
    • There absolutely IS something wrong with posting license plates. Especially posting anonymously while accusing someone of something. Thats BS. This OP was trying to shame a driver while she was ILLEGALLY using her phone in traffic.
If someone has a beef with another driver in a serious matter, this info should be given to POLICE. Not put on social media to start shit.

      [0]
    • Tyler, my point is that why would an image of a plate be posted yet when someone WRITES a license number into their post the creators of this group remove it before releasing it to the public. Please read my comment again.

      [0]
    • I don’t check private messages often. Also, there is nothing wrong with posting license plates. They are intentionally for public viewing.

PS. I did not remove any license plates from this, or any recent posts…

      [0]
    • Tyler Seguin Tyler Seguin says:

Lol learn your laws folks, nothing illegal with posting plates on line or anywhere for that matter. Worst the owner of s vehicle could do is file for harassment

      [0]
    • I did research. And yes, plate# can be posted apparently as it is tied to a vehicle, not neccessarily a person.

In this specific case, the OP is at fault, breaking the distracted drivers law. She then tries to publicly shame another driver who calls her out on it.

  84. This is why only 1 car gets through on a advanced green.

    [0]
  85. I’m thinking you don’t have a leg to stand on here. If you were still in the parking lot, you should’ve remained in your spot and waited there to receive the response you were waiting for. It’s not “Barely distracted driving”, same reason people have gotten huge fines in the Tim’s drive thru. Get your poop in a group and accept some responsibility.

    [0]
  86. Get a blue tooth that way u wouldn’t have to see who texted u..plus taking time to snap a pic.of the guys car was a totally no no.you could have easily hit some one or that truck in front of you. .Don’t blame that so called rude guy..To many people n animals getting hurt or killed…

    [0]
  87. Bottom line, you could have waited to look at a red light…..I would feel more sympathy had you been at a red light and he was belching that order!

    [0]
  88. Just because you weren’t texting doesn’t mean it’s not distracted driving! You’d get a ticket even if your phone was just in your hand for the GPS navigation!! Distracted driving is distracted driving

    [0]
  89. Renee Huff Renee Huff says:

Just what we needed, another person with the “poor me” attitude. YOU where in the wrong, NOT the other driver. Put your damn phone away and pay attention to the road…dont even care if your at a red light or stuck in traffic. PUT THE DAMN PHONE AWAY

    [0]
  90. It takes a second. In that second you could be ending lives… or your own. Maybe turn the phone off next time? Or sit in that parking lot and wait for a reply before making your journey. Please, use that thing you call a head for more than keeping your ears apart.

These are my favorite types of posts in this group. Stupid people doing stupid things and then ranting about getting called on it, expecting to find validation only to find nothing but solid rebukes. Couple pieces of advice moving forward. 1. Don’t use your phone while driving for any reason, EVER. 2. If you are going to make an anonymous rant post, suck your pride up and don’t respond giving away your identity.

    [0]
  92. Put down your phone and you wont get yelled at. It is against the law. All you do here is admit you are driving while on your phone. I hope a ticket is in the mail for you. People like you who try to turn the tables when you are obviously in the wrong is what is wrong with the world today. #growup

    [0]
  93. And in the second you picked up the phone your eyes were off the road. Distracted driving 100%

Vehicles nowadays are Bluetooth/voice message compatible. Remind me again WHY you felt you were somehow in the right? Who fucking cares what your “intentions” were. The fact of the matter is you have NO regard for the rules of the road. Seems to me it is only a matter of time before you become a tragic statistic. You’re a selfish bitch who only thinks about the here and now, and not the long term consequences attached to your actions.

PUT THE PHONE DOWN!!! YOU ARE THE PROBLEM, NOT THE SOLUTION!!!

  101. A lady was stopped behind me at a traffic light. I glanced in my rear view mirror to watch her take a fish face pose with her young kid on her phone . One word for her and it’s idiot. Teaching her son a great lesson.

  106. Sue Dubya Sue Dubya says:

Get the hell off of your f**king cell phone. While you are in the driver’s seat and in control of your vehicle, you are NOT to be texting & driving. I don’t give two shits whether you had any intention of texting back or not. You left your f**king cell phone OPEN to messages to see if your friend would answer!!! You were DISTRACTED!
There’s a new feature on your cell if you have an iPhone. You can turn it on to send a message telling people you’re driving and you’ll message them when it’s safe to do so. Have you turned this feature on? I have!
But then I don’t text and drive anyway! I always kept my phone out of reach when I was driving. WTF is wrong with you and every other nutbar out there who seems to think it won’t happen to them! I see you people doing this all the time. And you’re normally behind me or beside me. You’ve come awfully close to hitting me. And if you hit someone I love…I will not be responsible for my actions!

    [0]
  107. The very fact that you looked at your phone while driving puts you in the “Get off your phone, you selfish Bitch!’ category! I love how you try to shame him, yet there is no way to identify you! Coward, put your licence plate on this post please, so we can all stay away from you on the road.

    [0]
  108. So… this post is a shout out to support a person who called you out for being a fool, because whether or not you intended to text.. if you were driving you were in the wrong.

    [0]
  109. You were 100% in the wrong! Picking up your phone to look at it regardless if you are stopped at a light or stop sign IS distracted driving! Any time your car is on the road, drive thru, etc with keys in ignition and running not 100% parked IS considered distracted driving. If a police officer had seen you instead of the person who yelled at you, you would be on here whining how unfair the cop was for ticketing you because you were just checking your phone at a light! Driving is a privilege and it comes with rules and laws for everyone’s safety. Stop being selfish and think of all those lives around you. Put your phone away when in the car, no message is more important than a life! You want to check your phone, pull into a parking lot, park then check it! Distracted driving KILLS, do you want to take the chance of being someone who kills another human? This is one of my biggest pet peeves, I know of several people who have lost their young lives because of distracted driving, preventable deaths because someone thought their messages were so damn important they couldn’t wait to check them!

  110. Amber Dawn Amber Dawn says:

Wouldn’t your phone make a sound had she text back? Why leave it open so you have to look at it? Too many lives lost because others think it’s ok to take their eyes off the road and on there phone for “just a second”.

    [0]
  111. Something tells me that you were probably clearly driving poorly because of the phone, hence his reaction. I yell that same type of thing at people that are clearly texting, because you’re going to KILL someone someday.

    [0]
  112. In case you’re still reading this, Lynne, I’d like to make a suggestion that should clear it all up for you. Bring your photo and lovely story to the police and ask their opinion, see if perhaps they’ll choose to side with you. I can’t imagine any of the officers you might speak with WOULD but it’s always worth a shot, right? Make sure to mention you posted this photo on the internet intending to shame that driver and that you publicly shared his license plate, also.

Seriously lady, I think it’s time to act your age and learn the law or hang up the keys. There is no room for your opinion here, misunderstanding the law does not absolve you of your responsibility if you’ve broken it.

  114. Ruth Chalk Ruth Chalk says:

It only takes 5 seconds to get into an accident. That’s the same amount of time it takes you to look down and back up. Only for it to be to late…. please leave the phone alone.

    [0]
  115. Lol I have yelled worse stuff. I drive for a living all day in the city of Edmonton. It’s staggering how many people like you feel your phone is ok to even look at. I hope one day you check your phone not to reply. And wham you run off the road into a pole. Not getting hurt. And you realize put the fucking phone down before I kill someone.

    [0]
  116. Good Lord you sound like a total douch!. Put your phone down!

    [0]
  120. You should of and I quote “FFFUUUCCCKKKK YOU “

    [0]
  121. Ugh bitch Id tell you to get off your phone too

    [0]
  122. Entitled brats like you need to catch the bus… Leave the driving for responsible people

    [0]
  123. Then you should have your volume on so you can hear it ping, and then wait for an appropriate time to look. Your impatience with text ain’t worth anyone’s life.

    [0]
  124. Lynne you mind as well quit while you are ahead….

No one is going to agree with you, except maybe other ignorant drivers. I can’t stand entitled people that think what they do is right when it CLEARLY is not.

Can we have your licence plate, as you saw fit to post his, so I can share it with EPS.? Or I’ll just give them a link to this post seeing as it is a confession….

    [0]
  125. Then get off your phone maybe? The driver wasn’t rude. Just because you didn’t text doesn’t mean that you didn’t take your eyes off the road to look at your phone. What if there was a message? I bet you would take MORE time to read the message. You expect anyone to believe you wouldn’t be irresponsible and respond? Props to the driver who called you out.

    [0]
  126. I hope it hurts you so you stop using your phone.! I hope you were not anonymous so we can report you!

    [0]

Geeze a lot of hate on here. Obviously it’s dangerous to be distracted driving in any form and yet it’s too comon. Not saying what he did was wrong because if I noticed something like this I’d be that guy and yell at you too… But I can guarantee there are many hypocrites on here.

I’ve looked at my phone while driving – never inner city (especially Edmonton or Calgary cause y’all f*cken suck at driving) and it’s to put the damn thing on speaker so the “distracted” aspect is removed. Red lights I’ll take a gander at my notifications but only if I know there’s time. I’m not saying it’s “right” but it happens all the time and by many worse than Lynne or myslef.

    Nothing personal Lynne but…

If you’re too old to drive. Don’t.

Lol bravo to the guy who called you out on it. I have a friend who spent a few months in a coma and a year in the hospital. Because of wingnuts like you. Wish the cops would see this post and be able to charge you for admitting distracted driving. Shame on you
