Shoutout – I am Thankful for the Kind Children Who Don’t Judge

Shoutout to the little girls at the MacEwan playground on Thursday, who were so kind to my son.

He is a teenager, and is quite obviously “different” (developmentally delayed). He was with his caregiver walking past the playground, probably skipping and laughing as he often does.

These girls ran over to meet him and took the time to find out what he likes, and when they found out his favourite thing is music, they sang to him!! My son was in heaven!

ANOTHER GREAT POST:  Thank you for your Christmas Spirit

I hope those little girls keep their attitude of open-minded acceptance and friendliness forever. In their world and his, everyone’s a friend!

It sure is a nice change from ignorant people who just stare rudely when they see someone who is “different”.

How nice for your son. It’s so hard to have interactions when you’re “different”. Thank you ladies, not only did you make the young man’s day, I’m sure his mom is still smiling for the few minutes of acceptance and kindness you showed. Thank you!

  15. I hope the girls mom gets to see this. She is obviously doing an amazing job, and mothers often don’t get recognized for their hard work.

  20. children often do not notice “differences” until they hit school and they slowly start to pick up on cues either set by peers or teachers regarding others. Its wonderful when children remind us about acceptance and kindness to another.Great post.
