Shoutout – Love, The Kingsway Mall Grinch
To the gentleman in the blue station wagon who I got very angry with and honked at in the Kingsway Mall parking lot tonight – I’m so sorry. You were going to be the third person to rudely steal a spot I had signalled for, and I was losing all patience (and precious last-minute-gift-buying time).
When you raised your hands in surrender, backed out, and mouthed Merry Christmas to me, I was instantly ashamed to have gotten caught up in all the scroogey hustle and bustle. In a perfect world, this season is supposed to bring out the kindness in us. In reality, grinchiness spreads just as easily when impatience and financial stress is paired with material expectations.
To everyone out there doing frantic shopping for your loved ones, please remember to be respectful to those around you. Gifts are nowhere near as important as goodwill.
To this specific gentleman – I was hoping to run into you so I could offer a courtesy cup of coffee and treat along with my apology. I didn’t, so I’ll pay the courtesy forward and just hope this apology reaches you. Thanks for reminding me what this season is really about. (And for letting me have that wonderful parking spot.)
Merry Christmas to you, too 🙂
