Shoutout to West Edmonton Home Depot on 174 Street and 99 Avenue for Employing the Differently-Abled

I’ve been wanting to send this shoutout for a while….

Would like to recognize Home Depot -West Edmonton (174th st 99 ave). I shop fairly frequently at that store and on every visit there is always at least one disabled…scratch that… ‘differently-abled’ employee on duty. Yes, wheelchair bound..yes not fitting our definition of ‘normal’… yes, even with slight speech impediments and still they are every bit as courteous, polite and knowledgeable in their area.

Thank you for opening these opportunities to those that are often marginalized… As a mom with young children I think there is SO much value in having children see those not simply of different races or cultures but also of different abilities working together in our communities.

I don’t know if it’s a nationwide incentive that Home Depot supports… sure hope it is.. but focusing on the one location where I know it’s happening.

Thank you.

  5. There is a gentleman in a wheel chair at westmount as well, in the tools department. He is great to talk to and you can tell he loves his job.

I live in the area and frequent that particular store often. The staff are very pleasant. I mentioned how nice the staff were and the cashier said, ‘tell our store manager. He is standing right there’. I told him and he said he was proud of his staff. He also thanked me coz he normally just hears complaints.
