    Muskrats are native to alberta and look just like a rat. If there is any water near by its possible. This time of year they could be on the move 🙂

    It is more than likely a Muskrat. They look like rats from far away, and they are found on land foraging for food as much as they are in the water.

  25. I worked in west Edmonton mall. Trust me, there are rats here.
    Also, in 2002, someone liberated 30 research rats in Calgary. By now there could be hundreds of thousands.

    I have seen muskrats…and in Riverdale I saw a rat come out of the sewer in a rainstorm…that was around 5 years ago…a muskrat has a longer thicker tail and is larger than a rat.

  30. It’s a muskrat , I called 311 last year when I seem one walking down the street that came an did a thorough investigation , if there are any slews around your home , that’s where they hang , don’t approach them , there very aggressive
