  9. I seen it a lot lol. The poor grammar is annoying. At least “I seen it” you know what they are talking about. I have saw (lol) a lot of posts where I can’t even understand what they are trying to say. I usually start with the first sentence. If I can’t understand it I scroll along.

  11. It might be pertinent to remember that for a lot of people English is not their first language. It is very common for tenses to be mixed up when someone is learning English.

  14. Another one that I notice is people using ‘of’ instead of ‘have’ as in “I would of” it’s “I would have”! I think this is because people really don’t read that much anymore! Anyone who does any amount of reading learns the proper use and spelling of our language.Perhaps they are more comfortable communicating with emojis. Heaven forbid someone point out (as indicated by some of these comments) how stupid it makes you seem! No wonder Trump loves the poorly educated… We can aspire to be better than that!

  28. poor spelling, limited vocabulary, lack of general knowledge, poor social skills, bullying, narcissism, outright cruelty and attention seeking/trolling. It’s all regularly seen on any public post pages. It’s all annoying, but one can get away from it all by just simply not reading the posts :).

  29. It is posts like this one where someone decides to give a dressing down to people who couldn’t care less about the errors or are just not great with grammar/spelling to begin with that make me want to ramble on about crap and tossing in grammatical bombs for them to pick apart.
So what if they don’t got good grammar…..if your brain cannot twist the sense out of their posts you are allowed to scroll on by and not let it bother you.

    • I mean… Same to you, hey?

      [0]
    • If they are posting on here, I would certainly hope they weren’t posting a resume’! There is a time and a place for formality and a place where people need to look at shrugging off lazy grammar in order to hang onto their sanity. Facebook has become the place where people abandon all common sense and use so many acronyms that I cannot keep up. Acronyms have become far too popular and translate to “I can’t spell that and they will never know if I use an acronym instead”!

      [0]
    • Why don’t people want to recognize their weaknesses and improve them? So your grammar sucks; it doesn’t have to.

      [0]
    • Megan Williams people who use acronyms and crappy spelling have never learned to love words in general. Spelling them naturally falls by the wayside when you abandon proper spelling and grammar. Mine comes naturally to me. I dropped out of high school in grade 10 and went back for my upgrading when I was 25. I was put into grade 10 English and the teacher asked me why the hell I was put into that class. When I finished in her class she put me directly into grade 12 English which I completed effortlessly. I continue to learn new words and often forget when I am dumping complex words into a conversation and need to give the definition before I continue. Our written language is becoming a lost art.

    • Some people have learning disabilities and I know of someone who will not say anything on social media because they have been attacked for their grammar. This person won’t even write a letter because they are judged so harshly.

      [0]
    • Allana Driedger my daugher is one of those. Try to the perspective of being a grammar perfectionist and having to switch gears and dumb down every syllable to be able to speak her simple language when complex language is one of my favorite things to hear and use. Believe me, I know when that is happening because the language becomes oversimplified and podgy. I tend to try to ignore a lot of the differences and accomodate them when I have to deal.. I am raising 2 of her kids who both have limited language skills.
The people addressed in this are the ones who tend to not care about the way they write. My daughter becomes enraged if I suggest she try sounding out a word and looking it up the way it sounds in the dictionary. I even pointed out that she would learn new words along the way. Her language barrier is compounded by her comprehension and her speech. This challenge has not been easy.
Don’t think I don’t give a pass to people for what appears to be a more serious barrier.
Now, people whom I know personally who let autocorrect do their spelling I have great fun pointing out flaws to!
