Wedding dresses for plus sized bride

I am a plus sized woman (size 26) who is absolutely terrified of wedding dress shopping. I’ve heard so many horror stories and my first experience at David’s Bridal left much to be desired. Is there even a place that will have a sample dress for me to try? I’m dreading the whole experience.

ANOTHER GREAT POST:  Looking for Quest Cookies and Cream bars

Please don’t make awful comments about how I should try to lose weight or how gross fat people are, I’m feeling crappy enough about this whole thing as it is. Thanks.

  1. This is a happy time for you. You found someone that loves you, remember that. While I can’t help you find a wedding dress, I do want to say that you will look beautiful no matter what as you are marrying the person you love so walk in to shops with a smile and don’t let anyone pull you down.

I don’t know places but, if you are feeling crappy about it as it is, maybe you should wait on the dress shopping until you feel better about yourself.

  4. Speak with a manager at David’s – they were amazing when I bought my dress, and were one of the few that had lots of sample sizes I could try.

Dont feel crappy about yourself you obviously have someone who loves u just the way u r. However realistically finding a good selection of sample wedding dresses in a plus size might be a struggle.

So your not going to go dress shopping, because you heard other’s talk about their horror stories. Really?
Go wedding dress shopping and make a beautiful story about it instead of hearing horror stories. Majority of stores carries plus size wedding dress. Have a look before you judge.

After a couple awful experiences at bridal boutiques, I ordered mine online and had it tailored to fit perfectly. Saved myself about $1k in the process, too.

  17. The Bridal Plus Boutique has sizes ranging from 4 to 32, it’s where I bought my dress and I’m a size 22! The ladies are SUPER helpful and do all alterations in house! Quick turn around too. Plus they can order in if they don’t have something you like.

Just keep in mind designers in general don’t tend to make a lot of plus sized options so they’re limited in that sense too.

There’s a dress for everyone! Don’t be discouraged. David’s Bridal sucks for anyone at any size haha! There are several boutiques in Edmonton. Shop around. Just be sure to get all costs explained up front. Cause dress shopping can get costly with alterations and timelines etc.
